Avalanche

All avalanche reports involving Ketchum City infrastructure or life safety shall be reported to 911 emergency dispatch immediately. All other reports involving avalanches within the City of Ketchum shall be reported to non-emergency dispatch: 208.726.7833

Create and practice a Disaster Plan:

  • Ensure that everyone in your family knows what to do if an avalanche occurs 
  • Discuss travel routes that are not prone to avalanches
  • Decide where to meet and who to contact in case of an avalanche
  • Assemble and maintain an emergency preparedness kit, including fresh water, non-perishable food,  flashlight, batteries, cash, important documents, medications and first aid supplies
  • Make a plan for evacuating people who need assistance, and pets
