419 Sun Valley Road Adaptive Re-Use

In 2011, the Ketchum Urban Renewal Agency negotiated leases with two anchor tenants in the 491 Sun Valley Road building: the Ketchum/Sun Valley Visitors Center and Starbucks.  The KURA funded landlord improvements inside the building and adjacent to Sun Valley Road in 2011 in the amount of $141,000.  Tenant improvements were approximately 3 times this amount.  The space, which opened in November 2011, showcases an innovative blending of the community Visitors Center and a Starbucks cafe.

The building and its architect, Susan Desko, has since been recognized for its outstanding design.  In October 2012, Desko was awarded the highly prestigious 2012 American Architecture Award for her work on the project.  The Awards are international in scope, and honor new and cutting-edge design.
