Commissioner Jim Slanetz, with his wife Karin, are owner and operators of a local, beloved snowboard shop, The Board Bin. Jim grew up in Southern New Hampshire and spent time in Vermont and Boston before moving to Ketchum in 1988.
Jim graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire, but spent a year at both the University of Colorado Boulder and as a Banana Slug at the University of California Santa Cruz in his quest for a degree.
The Commissioner brings a diverse and varied background to the Ketchum Urban Renewal Agency. While building the Board Bin, Jim has held various illustrious positions such as an A1 taxi driver, a server at Panda Chinese restaurant, and a skiing and snowboard instructor.
His passions range from snowboarding hiking, and biking to reading, yoga, and entertaining himself by playing lousy guitar.
Commissioner Slanetz prides himself on being a good listener and he tries to refrain from passing judgment on an issue until he fully understands both sides.
